California Road Trip: Carmel & Point Lobos State Reserve, July 8

After breakfast in Monterey, we drove down to Carmel for lunch and a little shopping.  This is where I discovered one of my now favorite photographers at the Photography West Gallery.  Roman Loranc – look him up if you like black and white on large format with gorgeous lighting.

Yes, a roaring fireplace at a restaurant in July is absolutely appropriate in this area.  It was hard to leave.

We continued on after Carmel down to Point Lobos State Reserve to see if we could see any seals and sea lions.  We didn’t have time to hike the trails, but we spent some time listening to the waves crash and the seals/sea lions bark at each other.  They remind me of my cats, sleeping for hours in the sun.
