California Road Trip: Old Mission Santa Barbara

Old Mission Santa Barbara was founded by a Franciscan friar in 1786, and the parish is still active today. While I’m sure they’ve had to restore and modernize some of it to accommodate the current community of friars, it still feels like stepping back in time – especially in the garden. The garden and church are unlike any I’ve visited in that they felt very alive, eery, and restful all at once. I could describe the feeling, but I’ll let my photos take a stab at that – you know, worth a thousand words and all that business.
